Marvel Discovery Corp has revealed a new area of focus for exploration at its Walker and KLR uranium project in Saskatchewan.

The firm will zero in on the DD zone, an area of “high merit and potential for success,” the company said. Vancouver-based Marvel said it made the decision after compiling and interpreting existing data, plus the results of an airborne fixed-wing magnetic survey.

“The DD Zone represents tremendous upside potential; the project is perfectly situated next to one of the largest uranium resources in the world being Cameco that has produced some of the highest-grade uranium,” Marvel CEO Karim Rayani said in a statement.

The Walker and KLR claims cover over 14,000 hectares along the Key Lake fault which is home to Canada’s largest uranium reserves, Rayani noted.

“After careful study, compilation, and interpretation, we have narrowed our focus to a manageable area where precision IP has helped define a number of high-priority drill targets,” the CEO added. “All the pieces of the puzzle are falling into place, and we look forward to initiating ground exploration with the anticipation of our inaugural drilling program later in the year.”

The DD Zone is located within the Wollaston-Mudjactic Transition Zone (WMTZ) of the eastern Athabasca Basin, which hosts some of the highest-grade uranium mines in the world.

The zone also straddles the Key Lake Shear Zone, which Marvel noted is an important fault for structurally controlled Athabasca Basin-type uranium deposits and hosts 10 uranium showings and multiple unexplored electromagnetic targets.

Drilling during the 1970s intersected uranium values of 0.125%, and backpack drilling in 2015 intersected 1.96% uranium over 29 centimetres (cm). Other highlights include 1.57% uranium over 4cm; 0.279% uranium over 44cm, and 0.20% uranium over 60cm.
