Microsoft Corp. announced on Wednesday that it is significantly reducing its business in Russia, joining a slew of companies that are reducing or withdrawing from the country in the aftermath of its invasion of Ukraine.

The company, on the other hand, stated that it would fulfill its existing contractual obligations with Russian customers, while the earlier-announced suspension of new sales remains in effect.

“As a result of the changes to the economic outlook and the impact on our business in Russia, we have made the decision to significantly scale down our operations in Russia,” a Microsoft spokesperson said.

Bloomberg News, which broke the story first, reported that more than 400 employees would be affected.

Several major corporations have severed ties with Russia, including Apple Inc, Nike, and Dell Technologies.
